Lin & Partners, a leading Taiwan law firm to global corporations, financial institutions, and government agencies, announced today that Taiwan’s Ministry of Transportation and Communications Tourism Bureau has once again appointed Lin & Partners as its sole external counsel for proposed integrated resorts in Taiwan that will include casino gaming.

The selection of Lin & Partners continues an engagement that began in 2010. Managing partner Dr. George Lin will lead the engagement, along with members of Lin & Partners Gaming & Hospitality practice group, the first of its kind among law firms in Taiwan.

Subsequent to Lin & Partners issuing the initial draft laws and regulations in 2012, which includes the draft Casino Control Act to establish the gaming regulatory agency and related subordinate legislation and regulations, throughout 2013 Taiwan’s parliament, the Legislative Yuan, has held numerous committee hearings to review and mark-up the legislation.

As part of its work, Lin & Partners advises the Tourism Bureau on its ongoing interactions with both casino/resort operators who are exploring Taiwan’s market potential, as well as overseas regulators as part of efforts to ensure future cross-border regulatory cooperation. The firm provides the government with strategic advice, legislative updates and analysis, and jurisdictional comparisons.

Dr. Lin is a frequent public speaker both in Taiwan and overseas to explain the proposed legislation, the legislative schedule for passage, investment and other regulatory requirements, and other related matters.

“We look forward to continuing our work with the government to help see through the passage of relevant laws and regulations to help make Taiwan’s integrated resorts a success,” said managing partner Dr. Lin.
