Dr. George Lin, managing partner of Lin & Partners, a leading Taiwan law firm to global corporations, financial institutions, and government agencies, spoke today at the Taiwan Business Leaders Forum on “Why you should seriously consider choosing Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) over Litigation.” Senior Associate KaiJu Lee accompanied Dr. Lin in giving the presentation.

The Taiwan Business Leaders' Forum is an exclusive membership program for senior executives of Taiwan-based business enterprises. Part of an international network of executive peer group forums, it aims to deliver thought-provoking analysis of, and informed comment on, the issues that affect local and regional business strategy and the bottom line.

The topics covered in the presentation covered included arbitration, mediation, the Financial Ombudsman Scheme (for which Taiwan’s Financial Supervisory Commission retained Lin & Partners to draft) and litigation in Taiwan, and the costs and merits of utilizing each of these dispute settlement mechanisms.

Lin & Partners’ Dispute Resolution & Investigations Group advises corporate and individual clients on civil and criminal investigations by government agencies, white collar defense, and complex litigation and is recognized by global publications as one of Taiwan’s leading litigation law firms. Dr. Lin has served as an arbitrator in numerous cases across various industries and is one of the most senior arbitrators in Taiwan. Ms. Lee, who is a licensed accountant, has served as an expert witness in cases involving disputes over financial record keeping.

“Managing litigation risk and costs are an important consideration for multinational companies when doing business in Taiwan and we hope that the Taiwan Business Leaders' Forum members found our presentation informative” said Dr. Lin.
