Lin & Partners, a leading Taiwan law firm to global corporations, financial institutions, and government agencies, announced today that the Financial Supervisory Commission has appointed Lin & Partners as its counsel to advise it on the taxation of the financial services industry.

The FSCD selected Lin & Partners via a competitive process that involved practitioners from law, universities, and private sector think thanks. Managing Partner George Lin will lead the engagement, assisted by of counsel Ross Feingold and senior associate David Lee and KaiJu Lee.

Dr. Lin has extensive experience in financial services regulatory matters, while Mr. Feingold has previous experience in the legal department at global financial institutions. Mr. Lee holds both a law degree and a masters in business administration, while Ms. Lee holds law degrees and is a certified public accountant.

Taiwan’s financial services industry plays a key role in Taiwan’s move to a services based economy from an economy previously dominated by manufacturing. To keep the financial services industry competitive, the FSC commissioned a project to review and provide proposals to reform the current tax regimes that impose a business tax on the gross receipts of financial service industry entities such as banks, insurance companies, and mutual fund houses.

“We are honored that the FSC has again selected Lin & Partners as its special counsel for an important regulatory review project. We hope to contribute our unique experience in financial services and products, as well as regulatory affairs, to advise the FSC on its planned reforms” said managing partner George Lin.
